Mr. Bowen, I suggest you print a thousand copies of this letter and start putting them on people's windshields and handing them out at the polling places tomorrow, Saturday and on Tuesday. I would start your wind shield campaign now, hand this letter to people walking in and out of Manning's office. Make sure Henry Hinton gets this letter. He might even read it on his show (don't hold your breath). I am sure you can find some of Elks' volunteers to help pass this letter out to people at the polls. You have clout as a former Commissioner, use it. Hold a press conference; send out press releases every day until the election. Hold a press conference at the Ag Center and show the media how to report the facts. Post this letter on every political story the Reflector runs, do it several times. The media in Pitt County remind me of the walking dead. Michelle Pollard's deposition reads like a road map to her current jail cell, and the press ignores it even today. Mac investigated that colostomy bag for animal cruelty in the 90s, so he has no excuse for playing stupid or saying he inherited her. It would be nice for someone in the press to have asked Mac what made Michelle so special? They won't-ever because they are afraid to do their jobs. Take no prisoners, expect no quarter and offer none what so ever. You have the truth on your side, and the truth must be known. If by some unforeseen chance a member of the media see this please before the question find out why Mac promoted and allowed a deputy to carry a firearm and manage others who failed a polygraph test, admitted to doing cocaine, and could not tell the difference between her dreams and reality?

Even if it were sour grapes most people could understand and likely share those sour grapes.

I have much confidence that Mr. Elks will win this.

Thanks for you comment and your interest Mark (and EVERYONE else). We still have a difficult time trying to figure out why the DA refuses to take the evidence to the grand jury. By not doing so, the people are robbed an opportunity to decide the validity of the case and ONE person, the DA, assumes the role of judge and jury. If the grand jury doesn't think there is enough evidence to prosecute, they won't return an indictment.
If the fear is a not guilty verdict disqalifies Michelle from future prosectuion, what additional information does the DA think will become available four years after Stacey's death to further strengthen his case? Mabye the thought is those close to Michelle will come forward with information since her incarceration. Maybe the thought is Mac Manning will not be re-elected and those afraid to come forward now with information will do so after a new Sheriff is elected.
What we do know is countless people have been successfully prosecuted on FAR LESS evidence than exists in this case. Consider us COMPLETELY baffled, outraged and still crying for justice.

Let me get this straight, Stacey had a seizure while boating with Michelle and she saves him from drowning-so she said; flash forward, a life insurance policy is taken out on Stacey, Michelle states that she found him floating while wearing clothes, shoes and a coat. Do unconscious people or the deceased float? I guess when Stacey was wearing shorts in the boat on the lake the day he almost drowned from having a seizure, he chose not to float that day. Otherwise, why did she have to keep him from going under? The night Stacey died, Michelle first says he must have had a seizure, fell into the pool and drowned. Next, she is supposedly drugged and sexually assaulted by a convicted felon and his girlfriend the night of Stacey's funeral, but she doesn't press charges. Later she fails a polygraph test about how Stacey died, then changes her story and states that she pushed him into the pool. Next she recants and excuses herself by stating that she had a dream about it and could not tell reality from fiction. Then she gets promoted by Mac who knows she took a test, but appears to not care to find out the results. Then Mac finds out she failed the polygraph, but buys her "dream" story. Then she is involved in another incident where she is supposedly drugged thereby excusing her topless wet t-shirt contest incident. Again, she refuses to press charges against the person(s) who drugged her. Still Mac buys it. Sheriff's Training and Standards then notifies her of their intent to strip her law enforcement certification. Later Mac's deputy, Michelle, is convicted on obstruction of justice and sentenced to prison. Sprinkle in the fact that when the SBI was finally called to investigate, Michelle was allowed to see the SBI investigative file of Stacey's death by Mac and neither Dance nor the SBI were brought into certain situations – like knowing before Michelle who made the 9-11 call about her husbands drowning and asked to take part in her own investigation, not to mention her sexual relationship with a superior, you either have a potential best selling crime novel, a lifetime movie, or a reporter or cop who if they wanted to win an award could crack this case wide open. Its circumstantial yes, but guilty people have been arrested and prosecuted and sent to prison with less evidence. Then again, those suspects were not protected by a blue wall or a 200 thread count cotton sheet. (I left out the part where I mentioned that her “friend with benefits” I believe is an ex-con, went into business with her, and refused to take a polygraph test about Stacey’s death) – I'd check the veracity of Manning's crime stats given that Stacey's cause of death is still unknown. Now, we have another officer arrested, charged with a crime and I hear Mac saying instead of no comment, she is innocent. I hope he is correct. If not, what does that say about his ability to judge others and command? He said the same thing about Michelle who now wears an orange jumpsuit and will probably be seen picking up trash on HWY 64 under armed guard.

That's an emotional posting and well titled (A Betrayal of Truth).

Rest easy in knowing that Mac knows that we the people know. This is it for him and he's willing to prove that he's lost all moral standing and dignity and is willing to grovel to keep his job.

Let's enjoy watching him completely destroy what reputation he has left as he loses his job.

At least he knows he's really in a mess now.

He so is.

...“Mudslinging and negative politics is beneath the office of Sheriff. But if it’s hurled my way I will stand my ground“...

Mudslinging? Is that what it is to ask for answers and accountability?

Justice for Stacey may be on it's way.

Yes this is a small portion of what Michelle has coming to her!! Her past is slowly but surely catching up with her. Wow, they sure didn't waste any time cuffing her and rushing her to Raleigh. I have heard she is in protective custody, is that true? Why does she need to be protected?

A comment was left on one of our local news websites from someone I suspect to be a friend of Michelle. This person said that Mac needs to watch out because Michelle was going to spill the beans on him!! That would be a very interesting story to hear, lol!!

Yes it's not enough but it will not be comfortable for her. Maybe her big mouth will get her in trouble in jail. She is being punished and will continue to be punished for the things she has done. It's not enough but let us smile for 6 months knowing she is where she needs to be.

Thanks for dropping by. Couldn't agree more about the 6 month sentence.....it's just a drop in the bucket when you think about the damage she left behind or buried and the community she betrayed . Any ideas as to why the Sheriff would so vehemently defend her, at least until the jury returned their verdict? Oh well, it did appear the tears she shed during her sentencing looked authentic and not the crocodile type.
